Following recent attack on Islamic Society of Markham, we need to remember the importance of mosques in the community

Re: Man allegedly tried to run over worshippers at Markham mosque during Ramadan, April 9, 2023.

As Ahmadi Muslims, we are devastated to hear about the recent attack on the Islamic Society of Markham.

Mosques are a place of worship.

To understand their purpose, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, said: “Mosques are a place for Muslims to elevate a bond with their creator and to fulfil the rights of fellow human beings.”

Not only is the spiritual aspect essential, but being in the mosque physically, among your brothers or sisters, builds a bond with one another and strengthens the ties of kinship.

Once the importance of the mosque is understood, the need for peace and justice is at the forefront of its purpose.
